ALPENA — Alpena High School’s varsity football team was honored with seven spots on the All Big North Conference Team.

Coaches from the Big North Conference selected seven players from Alpena High to be part of the all-conference team. Chosen were senior Jake Zann, who received an honorable mention as quarterback, senior Easton Srebnik, who made it to the second team as a wide receiver, senior Keleb Donajkowski, who received an honorable mention as a running back, senior Alex Corwin, who received an honorable mention as an offensive lineman, senior Carter Stark, who made it to the second team as a defensive back, senior John Kurowski, who received an honorable mention as a wide receiver, and senior Joe Sheridan, who received a special mention as a defensive lineman.

“It is a great honor to have the opportunity to talk about our young men with all the other coaches in the Big North Conference, and I am proud of our seven All-Conference honorees,” Alpena coach Eric Mitchell said. “All were deserving of the awards they received.”

Zann and Stark were three-year starters. Zann was honored as a quarterback, but also led the team in tackling. Carter was the defensive MVP, and also played several offensive positions for the team.

Donajkowski, Srebnik and Kurowski all played pivotal roles in offensive positions, with Donajkowski winning offensive MVP, but all three were also starting defenders and rarely came off the field.

Corwin was the offensive lineman of the year.

Sheridan was the team’s special mention player after getting injured in week four.

“We believe he would have competed for a first-team bid had he stayed healthy,” Mitchell said.
