Lady Gaga had a lot of “ups and downs” on her path to fulfilling her dream of becoming a mom, friends told Page Six.

The 40-year-old superstar has long wanted to have a baby — and made no secret to loved ones of her yearning, we’re told.

Indeed, she was trying for a baby as far back as 2024, pals said.

However, it has been a long path in the “Abracadabra” singer’s journey to motherhood with fiancé Michael Polansky, 42.

“Stefanie’s had a hard road to travel physically,” said one source of Gaga, real name Stefanie Germanotta.

“There have been moments of giddiness,” added the source, “and moments of despair. It has been so sad.

“It’s a real tale of hard times, both physical and emotional, en route to this happy ending.”

“She’s had severe hip issues and a heap of other physical ailments, alongside everything she puts her body through when performing,” the source added.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in October 2025, Gaga famously stated, “What I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope.”

We have reached out to Gaga’s rep.

The “Born This Way” singer was first spotted with her baby, whose name and sex is yet unknown, in Los Angeles, in pictures first published on Page Six Friday. It’s still not known whether Gaga’s baby was born via a surrogate.

Gaga has been open about her health woes..

In 2013, she had surgery for a broken hip, telling “Watch What Happens Live’s” Andy Cohen: “I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage.

“The surgeon told me that if I had done another show I might have needed a full hip replacement. I would have been out at least a year, maybe longer.”

And in her In her 2017 Netflix documentary “Gaga: Five Foot Two,” the star opened up about living with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that causes severe, widespread physical pain and fatigue.

However, she told how she pushed past the pain to perform, adding, “When I feel the adrenaline of my music and my fans, I can f—king go. But it doesn’t mean I’m not in pain.”

In 2021, Gaga, speaking in Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey’s Apple TV + mental health docu series “The Me You Can’t See,” revealed she had a breakdown years after being repeatedly raped by a music producer when she was 19, which left her pregnant.

She previously revealed that in 2019, even though her career was flourishing with her Oscar win for “A Star Is Born,” she was actually going through a “total psychotic break.”

“For a couple years, I was not the same girl,” she said. “The way that I feel when I feel pain was how I felt after I was raped. I’ve had so many MRIs and scans where they don’t find nothing. But your body remembers.”
