BVT, Grafton and South power to big wins in week five

WORCESTER, Mass. – Grafton responded to a late Doherty score with a last-minute touchdown drive en route to a 14-8 win over the previously unbeaten Highlanders. The two teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half, and Grafton (3-2) took a 7-0 lead into the fourth quarter before Doherty (4-1) quarterback Josh Romeo found Juan Reynolds for a touchdown. The Highlanders added the two-point conversion to take an 8-7 lead. Grafton’s offense would come back, and Wesley Willams scored with less than a minute to play to give Grafton the victory. 

Tantasqua (2-3) gave South (4-1) all they could handle through three quarters, but the Colonels scored the game’s final two touchdowns to win 34-22. Ransford Adri threw for three touchdowns and ran for another. Tantasqua quarterback Adam Howe passed for three touchdowns for the Warriors. 

Blackstone Valley Tech (2-2) started fast and finished strong in a 41-7 upset of Millbury (4-1). The Beavers got huge contributions from their offensive and defensive lines, and quarterback Alexander Burgos led the offense, passing for 208 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 103 yards. Nick Whitlock caught two touchdown passes including a 98-yard strike, and Adam Fransen caught a touchdown pass while running for 109 yards and another score for BVT.
