When It Comes to Sports, Beau Morki Is a Baller – Peekskill Herald

Date:

Beau Morki has been around sports his entire life. From a young age, Morki was obsessed with anything involving a ball, as he was on the field “all day, everyday.” He describes it as a key part of his childhood, and something he has carried throughout life.

Now, Morki is starting a new chapter, as he looks to spread his love of sports in his new role as athletic director of Hendrick Hudson School District. For the past few months, Morki has shadowed Hen Hud’s previous athletic director, Thomas (“Tom”) Baker, an experience both men viewed as beneficial. Now, it is time for Morki to take the reins of Hendrick Hudson’s athletics program.

Life Before Hen Hud

Morki is technical director of Eastern Football Club. (Eastern FC)

Beau Morki is no stranger to the world of athletics. As a child, he would try his hand at any activity offered to him. In addition to his regular sports, Morki participated in martial arts, track and field, and lacrosse. By high school, he was competing in six different sports. Soccer, however, became his primary focus. He played through high school and continued at St. John’s University, where he walked on to a NCAA Division 1 Championship-winning squad in 1997. Today, Morki is an avid golfer and a fan of Formula 1 racing.

Business has also been in Morki’s blood since birth. When he wasn’t busy with sports, he gained valuable experience shadowing his mother, who founded a business selling furniture across North and South America. Morki says that his early experience working with his family inspired his love for business, as he later earned a degree in international business from Fordham University. After a brief stint in San Diego working in marketing, Morki would once again hear sports beckoning him. He went on to become vice president of marketing for the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), a former powerhouse of American indoor soccer, where he got much of his early experience on the business and administrative side of athletics.

For the past 18 years, Morki has also run Eastern Football Club, an organization encompassing multiple soccer teams across southern New York state. Working with parents, players and officials to coordinate the best experience possible for the athletes was something that came naturally to Morki. That work led to his first athletic director position at the School of the Holy Child in Rye, where he served for four years (2013-2016). Morki would continue his career in education, directing athletics at The Hewitt School in New York City for a year (2017), and teaching physical education in New York City (2019 – 2025) before coming to Hen Hud.

Joining the Hen Hud Community

Before taking over as Hendrick Hudson’s athletic director, Morki shadowed outgoing athletic director Thomas Baker for the final months of 2025.

“Getting to learn the rules and regulations for Section 1,” as well as “getting to know and working with the amazing staff,” were two key factors that Morki believed set him up well to make the transition.

Morki is already looking ahead, searching for ways to enhance the district’s athletic programs. His motto, “We are here to serve,” reflects his goals moving forward: to provide the best possible experience for all student-athletes, increase participation, and create new opportunities for all who may be interested.

Looking Towards the Future

Morki’s primary goals for Hen Hud athletics center on increasing student participation and improving the overall athletic experience. To achieve this, he has identified key areas to target: collaboration plus establishing strong standards and growing beyond them.

Collaboration across the Hen Hud community is something Morki values deeply. Whether working with the music department to have students sing the national anthem at big games or partnering with elementary school physical education departments to ensure younger students are exposed to athletics early, Morki emphasizes that success is a shared effort. As he puts it, he is just “one piece of a huge puzzle.”

Morki also recognizes that meaningful change does not come overnight. Before growth can occur, a benchmark must be set.

“I want to make sure that the athletic department is stable, so that it can continue to grow, continue to improve,” Morki said. “It all begins with certain standards that we can jump off of.”

Once those standards are established, Morki has ambitious plans for the future. Beyond winning championships and overall success on the field, he hopes to improve Hen Hud’s athletic facilities and continue building the school’s reputation as a community hub for athletics.

“Our Athletic facilities are good and our students have the right to have great facilities. This process will not happen overnight and will require collaboration with our families, community, town, county and all stakeholders.”

Ultimately, Morki aims to ensure that every student-athlete has a rewarding and supportive experience. He believes success in the athletic department does not come from wins only. “If we measure success in wins and championships only, then we have failed,” Morki said. Instead, his focus is on student happiness—both in athletics and physical education.

Following in the footsteps of Thomas Baker, Morki promises to be – and already has been – present at any Hen Hud athletic event he can make it to. When asked what students and families can expect from him, Morki emphasized his accessibility: “My door will always be open, for all students and parents alike.”

For Beau Morki, the ultimate prize is simple—seeing Hen Hud’s athletes enjoy their time in sports and succeed both on and off the field.
