TRAVEL: Christmas in Japan – Easy Reader News

Date:

Christmas doesn’t just belong to Dickens and Coca-Cola. In Japan, despite the language barriers, the same customs exploited by American marketers are alive and well in the Land of the Rising Sun. Department stores have holiday displays in the windows, people stand on long lines to buy boxed holiday packaged chocolates and those endless Christmas songs play in hotels, restaurants, shops, anywhere there is people.

As I write this, “The Christmas Song,” is played on the radio, in english, in a country where if you ask people if they can speak English, most will say no.

For your viewing pleasure, a video postcard of Christmas in Japan.
