Tourists travel to the Lakes Region during busy holiday weekend

Labor Day weekend spells the unofficial end to the summer. This weekend, Granite Staters and tourists from all over flocked to the Lakes Region to enjoy the holiday. Elaine and Alan Hemway both grew up visiting the Lake Winnipesaukee region of New Hampshire. “Its a beautiful day and this is pretty. This is a pretty part of New Hampshire it really is.”In other parts of the Big Lake, Sarah and 20 of her family and friends set up games and a picnic for a special occasion. “We came here to celebrate our friends birthday he’s turning 18 – we brought all friends and family to celebrate together. its our first time here and its a perfect place.” Robert Herrera and his family are in town from Virginia for the next few days. They’ve spent a good part of the weekend at The Half Moon Arcade. “Were just visiting my finances family and they heard about this place in New Hampshire so I said cool lets go do it the picture looked nice so.” State officials say they’re expecting an increase of holiday travelers throughout the weekend compared to 2022.
