The robots delivering takeaways to Edinburgh students

Date:

Students can have food delivered by robots under a trial project under way at University of Edinburgh.

Known as Pixie, the autonomous vehicles can travel along private roads on campus.

Students at the university’s King’s Building are able to order up food or drinks using an app.

The project hopes to demonstrate the potential for autonomous vehicles in other settings such as airports or the NHS.

But, how close are we to that as a reality?

BBC Scotland News visited the University of Edinburgh, where a team of scientists have developed an autonomous food delivery robot.
