Sprouts Farmers Market and a Love’s Travel Stop and Country Store will soon be added to Apple Valley’s retail lineup.
Town officials announced the new additions during Wednesday’s State of the Town Address.
The High Desert’s “first ground-up” Sprouts market will be constructed on the south side of Bear Valley Road and east of Apple Valley Road, town officials said. The Love’s Travel Stop will be constructed on the northeast corner of Interstate-15 and Stoddard Wells Road.
It will represent Apple Valley’s first retail presence along I-15, according to town officials.
“We are proud to welcome the High Desert’s first ground-up Sprouts Farmers Market to Apple Valley,” said Mayor Scott Nassif in a written statement. “Shoppers will be able to access a diverse selection of fruits and vegetables, high-quality meats and seafood, and a variety of natural and organic groceries that our residents have long asked for.”
Approvals
During a July public hearing, the Town of Apple Valley Planning Commission approved the Love’s Travel Center, which will include a 12,700-square-foot fuel station and convenience store, a fast-food restaurant, a 13,800-square-foot maintenance building, and an RV park.
The Love’s project will be constructed in an undeveloped area north of Victorville and south of Dale Evans Parkway, and south of the proposed Brightline West high-speed train station.
The projects are expected to break ground by early 2024, according to town officials.
Love’s provides professional truck drivers and motorists with 24-hour access to purchase gasoline, diesel fuel, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), travel items, electronics, snacks, restaurant offerings, and more. Founded in 1964, and headquartered in Oklahoma City, Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores has more than 600 locations in 42 states, according to the company’s website.
A retail presence along I-15 will also allow out-of-area travelers to inject sales and gas tax revenues into the Apple Valley economy previously unexperienced.
The commission also approved an 18,200-square-foot warehouse building and office in the Village Business District.
The commercial projects will bring much-desired services, amenities, and jobs to Apple Valley, and extend infrastructure to open more areas and opportunities for development, town officials said.

In January, a LoopNet map showed 12,060 square feet of available retail space at the proposed shopping center in Apple Valley, which at the time, was expected to have Sprouts, Raising Cane’s, and two or three additional pads.
The site is located on vacant property on the south side of Bear Valley Road, and directly across from El Pollo Loco and Sonic Drive-In in the Apple Valley Town Center.
The retail property is also located adjacent and east of a possible second development site, which includes a vacant 1,307-square-foot home built in 1965.
“The proposed development project, including a list of tenants, is still in the early design phase,” Town of Apple Valley spokeswoman Shannon Dunkle told the Daily Press in January.
During that time, Dunkle added that town officials had no comment pending the normal development and approval process, and that the municipality remains committed to providing a pro-business process and attracting tenants that residents desire.
Meanwhile in Victorville, Sprouts is taking over the 18,600-square-foot building that formerly housed Toys “R” Us on Amargosa Road. The building is located in a retail center, anchored by stores such as 99 Cents Only, Party City, Get Air, and Hobby Lobby.
An Alcohol Beverage Control notice was posted on the building in December 2022, and named Sprouts Farmers Markets #469 as the tenant. Since then, construction crew have begun work on building.
Neither Sprouts nor Raising Cane’s have returned requests for comment from the Daily Press.
