Old Sacramento could see more foot traffic with pilot program

The Downtown Sacramento Partnership announced a pilot program on Thursday that intends to bring more entertainment to the Old Sacramento Waterfront.K Street from Second to Front streets will be car-free every weekend through September from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Instead, the historic street will be limited to pedestrians, bicyclists and others interested in enjoying live music and games, like checkers and corn hole.”We’re really trying to just activate this district, so people who haven’t been down here in a while come back and check it out,” said Chelsea Evans, the Old Sacramento Waterfront district manager with the Downtown Sacramento Partnership.Evans is also the co-owner of Warehouse Creative, a local boutique gift shop on K Street in Old Sacramento.”The goal is really just to create a different atmosphere down here,” she said.The Downtown Sacramento Partnership said Old Sacramento has had about 4 million visitors in the last year.
