All 32 NFL teams have reported to training camp, and there’s no shortage of intrigue and storylines so far.
Thursday started off concerningly for the Jets, as quarterback Justin Fields was carted off the field with a toe injury, according to head coach Aaron Glenn. The severity is not known yet.

Glenn expressed confidence in backup Tyrod Taylor, who has 59 starts (including one playoff game) and has thrown for 12,254 yards and 68 touchdowns with 29 interceptions, and also rushed for 2,281 yards and 19 touchdowns.

If Fields has to miss extended time, the Jets could also look to dip into the veteran market, whether via free agency or trade. Kirk Cousins is the best quarterback who likely won’t be starting this season, so the Jets might explore a trade with the Falcons. The loser of the Joe Flacco-Kenny Pickett QB competition might ultimately be available via trade too. Plenty of moving parts.

Kevin Stefanski wants a decision on the Browns’ quarterback competition “sooner rather than later.” On Wednesday, the first practice of training camp saw Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett split the first-team reps, while Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders split the second. Flacco still feels like the early favorite, though there’s plenty of time for Sanders and the others to make up ground.

Do the Rams already have a Matthew Stafford succession plan? It seems like the answer is yes, and it’s Texan quarterback Arch Manning. Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson caught up with Sean McVay and the Rams at training camp, and there’s no shortage of praise for the Longhorns’ sophomore.

Pass rushers Trey Hendrickson and Shemar Stewart are still holding out from the Bengals over contract disputes, and two stars addressed it on Wednesday. Quarterback Joe Burrow said it’s “obviously disappointing” the situations haven’t been worked out yet, and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase told Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein there’s “a lot of feelings involved.”
