Marshall ISD staff and faculty, students and the community gathered on Thursday evening Sept. 28, for their 2023 Homecoming Carnival, which featured a pep rally ahead of the football game versus Hallsville.
The carnival featured music from a DJ, karaoke, bounce houses, vendors, and games including cornhole, push up contests and more. There were food trucks including Elotes Ramonsito, Phillin Station, Mirtha’s Kitchen, Davis Grill, Sugar Shack, Funnel Playground, Kona Ice and Bar B Que Express.
“We have a fantastic turnout,” said Marshall ISD Superintendent Richele Langley. “We have everything from barbeque to snow cones to even live pigs walking around. We’re having a great time and looking forward to a wonderful homecoming tomorrow night. Go Mavs!”
The event welcomed the Marshall community with a pep rally and featured performances from the Marshall ISD Mavettes, band and cheerleaders as the annual bonfire was lit to cheers and applause from those in attendance. The event also showcased the Color Guard presentation by the JROTC, who also hosted a booth to connect with students and their families.
The homecoming court was set to be presented Friday ahead of the football game versus Hallsville.
The 2023 homecoming court is Freshman Prince Jhaeleon David and Freshman Princess Monica Trejo; Sophomore Prince Eli Emery and Sophomore Princess Kemora Ford; Junior Prince Walton Truelove and Junior Princess Alexis Westly; and seniors Dominque Williams and Camden Langley, vying for Homecoming King’ and Alaila Allen and Madison Wright, vying for Homecoming Queen.
