ATLANTA — Jade Cheedie had a pair of touchdown passes and Landon Galea had two touchdown receptions for the Atlanta football team, which won its first game of the 2023 season Friday, beating Mio 48-24 at home.
Brett Culham added two rushing touchdowns for the Huskies (1-2). Blake King, Cheedie and Tucker Kendrick were among Atlanta’s defensive standouts.
Posen 46, Hillman 0
POSEN — The Posen High School football team ran wild on Hillman Thursday, defeating the Tigers 46-0 in a North Star League Little Dipper division game.
Jack Romel found the end zone twice on the ground for Posen (3-0), finishing with 70 yards on five carries. He was 6-of-9 passing for 134 yards and a touchdown.
John Ennest and Alex Soik each had a rushing touchdown and Ethan Romel had 59 yards and a rushing score on seven carries.
Logan Timm had four catches for 114 yards for Posen and a score.
Defensively, Timm had 17 solo tackles and assisted on 11 others. Ennest had 13 solo tackles and 8 assists. Jack Romel had five tackles and an interception.
Posen is 3-0 for the first time since 2018 and plays Charlton Heston next week. Hillman is 0-3 and plays Alcona next week.

Harbor Light 1
HARBOR SPRINGS — The Alcona High School soccer team played a tough game on Thursday, going wire-to-wire with Harbor Light for a 1-1 tie.
“I could not be more pleased with how this team is coming together and playing with heart and never quitting,” Alcona coach Tim Steiner said. “This was a great team effort in which everyone contributed, especially the defense which improved from our last outing.”
Both teams played a scoreless first half, then 10 minutes into the second half, Harbor Light scored first off an awarded direct kick. A few minutes later, Preston Sharp placed a perfect corner kick to the front of the net and Cole Upper knocked it in to tie up the game 1-1. Alcona keeper Michael Nevin had 10 saves in goal.
