Local Christmas light shows to brighten up your holiday break



As the days get shorter, the nights are brightened with holiday lights. Twinkling lights, joyful tunes and sugary treats add magic to the season.

The following list features places to view Christmas lights in the Metroplex for friends and family to create memories this holiday season.

Lights at Interlochen

The Lights at Interlochen in northwest Arlington has been a holiday tradition for over 40 years. Visitors can drive through the neighborhood until 11 p.m. throughout December to enjoy the free display.

Every year over 200 new and longtime residents decorate their homes to celebrate the season and join the holiday tradition. Any unused decorations are recycled, and a group of residents come together to assist elderly neighbors with decorating.

The Light Park

The Light Park is a drive-through light show in the Hurricane Harbor Arlington parking lot. It is open daily through Jan. 1 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

General admission per vehicle is $39 online and $50 at the gate, but prices may vary depending on the date. For a shorter wait time, Friday through Sunday passes can be upgraded to Dasher Passes for $85.The Light Park is pet-friendly and offers food and drinks.

Prairie Lights

Prairie Lights is located in Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie and features Holiday Village, a walk-through area. At the halfway point you can exit your vehicle and enjoy the walk-through forest, carnival rides, photos with Santa and holiday shopping. The second half of the ride ends with a light tunnel.

General admission is $50 per car, $150 for limos, shuttle vans and buses or $200 per commercial bus. The park is open every night until New Year’s Eve from 6 to 10 p.m. or until the park reaches full capacity. Fast passes are also available for $149 per car.

Sugar Lane Lights

About 30 minutes northwest of Arlington is Sugar Lane Lights in Haslet. It is a mile-long drive-through light show featuring over two million lights.

Tickets are per vehicle and prices vary on the day you select. The park is open from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The hours are extended the week of Christmas. LED bracelets are available to purchase for $12 and sync to the show’s music.

Christmastime in Texas

Located about 45 minutes southwest of Arlington, Joshua, Texas is home to the drive-through light park Christmastime in Texas. The park is open 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Hours are extended during the week of Christmas. Tickets start at $35 per car. Veterans with a valid ID receive special discounts on any day.

There are local vendors at the park who offer food, drinks and other items to guests as they enjoy the park. Santa Claus also makes an appearance Thursday through Sunday and every day the week before Christmas until Dec. 23.
