John Calipari hints at big 2025 recruiting news for Kentucky

Date:

Things are going well with Kentucky‘s current top-ranked recruiting class — essentially all of the Wildcat newcomers have produced in some form or fashion this season. And the team looks great, jumping back into the top 10 on Monday following a big win over North Carolina in the CBS Sports Classic.

And things are looking good in ’24, too. That class is ranked No. 2 overall with four signees in five-stars Jayden Quaintance and Boogie Fland and four-stars Somto Cyril and Travis Perry. John Calipari isn’t done there, either, recruiting the likes of Billy Richmond, VJ Edgecombe and Karter Knox while also monitoring potential reclassification options.

“We’ve got another good group coming in next year,” Calipari said Monday evening.

But it doesn’t stop there. Coach Cal said back in October that “’24 is looking good, ’25 is looking even better.” He followed that up by adding “we’ll probably have one or two more commit here in a while” in late November, referencing the 2024 class.

Then came further optimism regarding that 2025 group on Monday.

“Then some of the 25s, I’m feeling really, really good about,” Calipari said. “You’re talking about three years — this year, next year then the year after that with really good players.”

What does that look like? Kentucky has extended offers to AJ Dybantsa, Cameron and Cayden Boozer, Darryn Peterson, Caleb Wilson, Darius Acuff, Jasper Johnson, Meleek Thomas, Koa Peat and Malachi Moreno — a wide net of high-level talent. And Coach Cal likes where things stand with a number of those pieces.
