Jasper County’s annual comprehensive finance report for Fiscal Year 2021-22 earned the highest award presented from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, the county said in a news release.
The county said the report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” GFOA leaders said.

Jasper County has an annual operating budget of more than $44 million in 2022-23.
“To earn this recognition year after year since 2008 is quite an achievement, and the honors really go to Ms. Kimberly Burgess, our director of administrative services and finance, and her team who put together this report,” County Administrator Andy Fulghum said. “It is highly detailed work in finance, but the report has to be clear and understandable to people who aren’t accountants. I think that is what makes our report such a success.”
“On behalf of our entire Finance Department, we want to thank the Jasper County Council for its continued strong support for our budget work and financial reporting,” Burgess said.
