House speaker live updates: Jim Jordan faces 3rd vote amid continuing chaos

The House is scheduled to vote Friday for a third time on the speakership bid of embattled Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). Ahead of the morning vote, Jordan plans to hold a news conference. In previous votes this week, Jordan has fallen well short of the majority vote needed to prevail in the full chamber. On Thursday, he offered to pause his campaign and support temporarily expanding the powers of Rep. Patrick T. McHenry (R-N.C.), the interim speaker, to conduct some House business. But that effort fell apart during a long and heated meeting of the GOP conference.
