Actor-pianist Hershey Felder will offer a one-night-only performance of his solo show George Gershwin Alone December 4 at The Town Hall in Manhattan. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Entertainment Community Fund.

George Gershwin Alone, written by and starring Felder and directed by Joel Zwick, premiered 22 years ago at Broadway’s Helen Hayes Theatre.

The solo show includes a full performance of “A Rhapsody in Blue,” which premiered almost 100 years ago just steps away from The Town Hall at what was Aeolian Hall on West 43rd Street. Attendees can also expect to hear such Gershwin classics as “Summertime,” “The Man I Love,” “‘S Wonderful,” “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “Embraceable You,” and “Swanee.” The forthcoming benefit will also include guest appearances from Broadway favorites.

George Gershwin Alone was the first of Felder’s one-man biographical composer shows. He has subsequently celebrated the work of Beethoven, Berlin, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Bernstein, Debussy, and Liszt, among others. Felder will also soon be seen in Monsieur Chopin, a play with music, directed by Zwick, which runs November 16-December 24 at 59e59 Theaters.

The December 4 benefit performance of George Gershwin Alone continues Felder’s philanthropic efforts during and following the pandemic, where he has donated over $2 million to U.S. theatres and international arts organizations via live performances and streaming productions.

The Entertainment Community Fund is a national human services organization that addresses the needs of people who work in performing arts and entertainment with services focused on health and wellness, career and life, and housing. Visit EntertainmentCommunity.org.
