UNDATED (AP) — Curt Cignetti has been named The Associated Press coach of the year in college football for the second consecutive season. He is the first coach to win the award back-to-back since it was first presented in 1998. Cignetti has led Indiana to unprecedented success, with a 24-2 record over two seasons. The Hoosiers are 13-0 this year, Big Ten champions for the first time since 1967, and the top seed in the College Football Playoff. Cignetti received 47 first-place votes. Texas Tech’s Joey McGuire and Vanderbilt’s Clark Lea received two each, and Virginia’s Tony Elliott got one.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The men’s basketball game between Brown and Southern California, set for Sunday in Los Angeles, has been canceled. So has the women’s game against Monmouth, which was set for Sunday in Rhode Island. Brown athletic officials announced both cancellations Tuesday. USC said the schools mutually agreed on the decision following the mass shooting on the Ivy League school’s campus in Providence last Saturday. Brown’s next game is scheduled for Dec. 31 at home. The Trojans will play against a yet-to-be-announced opponent on Sunday at Galen Center.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Jaxon Kohler had 16 points and 13 rebounds, and No. 9 Michigan State never trailed while rolling to a 92-69 victory over Toledo. Kohler’s double-double was his sixth of the season. Jeremy Fears Jr., who came in averaging a Division I-best 9.5 assists per game, had 15 points and eight assists. Coen Carr and Kur Teng added 14 points apiece for Michigan State. Carson Cooper added eight points and nine rebounds as the Spartans recorded season highs in scoring and rebounding. Sonny Wilson had 29 points, five assists and four steals to lead Toledo.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lauren Betts had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Kiki Rice added 23 points to lead No. 4 UCLA to a 115-28 win over Cal Poly. UCLA’s 87-point margin of victory was the fourth largest in program history. The Bruins beat UC San Diego by record 97 points (117-20) on Jan. 11, 1975. Betts’ younger sister, freshman forward Sienna Betts, made her much-anticipated debut with the Bruins. UCLA (10-1) started the rout early as the Mustangs — whose tallest starter is listed at 6-foot — had no answer for the 6-foot-7 Lauren Betts inside the paint at Pauley Pavilion. UCLA has won four in a row since its loss to Texas, and the Mustangs (2-8) has lost four in a row.

NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario (AP) — Gavin McKenna, a 17-year-old forward, is expected to be the top pick at the 2026 NHL draft. He has faced criticism for leaving the WHL’s Medicine Hat Tigers to play at Penn State. McKenna has scored 18 points in 16 games this season in U.S. college hockey. He dominated junior play with 129 points in 56 games last season. McKenna is motivated by the criticism and aims to be a key player for Canada at the upcoming world junior championship. He believes his college experience will better prepare him for professional hockey.

UNDATED (AP) — No. 15 Nebraska enters the week with its best start in program history and its highest AP Top 25 ranking since March 1991. The Cornhuskers are 11-0 and have won 15 straight games dating to last season. Coach Fred Hoiberg told The Associated Press he wants to see his team develop more toughness to get ready for the bulk of Big Ten play. The AP Top 25 national schedule includes No. 11 Louisville’s trip to No. 20 Tennessee. In addition, No. 3 Duke, No. 6 Purdue and No. 8 Houston play ranked opponents Saturday on neutral courts.

UNDATED (AP) — Princeton’s women’s basketball team has entered the Associated Press Top 25 rankings at No. 25. Coach Carla Berube’s Tigers have been ranked in four of the past five seasons. She credits their tough non-conference schedule for their success. The Tigers have only lost once this season, to No. 7 Maryland, and have wins over teams like Georgia Tech and Seton Hall. Last season, despite injuries, they made it to the NCAA Tournament. Now, with star Madison St. Rose back, they’re ready for Ivy League play. The conference has improved, with three teams in last year’s NCAA Tournament.

UNDATED (AP) — Kansas guard Melvin Council Jr. is The Associated Press men’s college basketball national player of the week for Week 6. That comes after Council had career highs of 36 points and nine 3-pointers to help the 17th-ranked Jayhawks beat N.C. State 77-76 in overtime on the road. Brayden Burries was runner-up after helping No. 1 Arizona rally past Alabama. BYU’s AJ Dybantsa, Nebraska’s Pryce Sandfort and Indiana’s Lamar Wilkerson were honorable mentions. The week also included Radford’s Dennis Parker Jr. scoring a school- and conference-record 53 points in a win against Coppin State.
