Kent, OH – The Kent State Men’s basketball team is back on the road to travel to Brookings, SD to play South Dakota State on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Tip-off time is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. ET inside Frost Arena. The game can be watched on Midco Sports 1 and heard on the GoFlashes App.

The Golden Flashes are coming off a 103-61 victory over Shawnee State University. The Flashes started a new lineup and saw great success. LA Hayes and Delrecco Gillespie had their first collegiate start. Brenden Moss was on top leading the game off the bench with a career/game-high of 19 points and added three boards. Chris Payton Jr. added 14 points while VonCameron Davis contributed 16 points, six rebounds, and two steals to capture the Flashes’ victory. As a whole, the Flashes shot 57.6 percent from the field, 40 percent from the three, and 89.6 percent from the charity stripe. The Flashes are leading the MAC with a +12.88 scoring margin and an average of 84.8 points per game. The Flashes rank 22nd in the nation in scoring (84.8) and 10th in turnovers forced (17.9) per game. The Flashes will take on the Jackrabbits in their first true road game at Frost Arena.
Key Players for Shawnee State
South Dakota extended their win streak to three games this past Friday with a 61-48 victory over Townson. The Jackrabbits improved to 4-4 overall this year. South Dakota State is 2-1 at home this season entering Tuesday’s game against the Flashes. The Jackrabbits are led by Preseason Player of the Year and Preseason All-Summit League First Team, Zeke Mayo. Mayo led the way against Townson with 20 points and now averages 18.6 points per game. Mayo also leads the Jackrabbits averaging seven rebounds per game and 3.3 assists per game. Luke Appel and William Kyle III, both preseason all-conference honorees, helped Mayo obtain the win against Townson recording double digits. The three have led the Jackrabbits in scoring through their last eight games.
Series Match-up
The Golden Flashes will meet South Dakota State for the third time in program history. The last time was inside the M.A.C. Center in the 2022-23 season and the Flashes took the win 83-68. Overall, the Flashes are 12-2 against opponents in the Summit League.

Saturday afternoon’s game will be our annual Coaches vs. Cancer game and the men’s basketball team has paired up with Cleveland Hope Lodge.
