Getting Enzo tied down to a longer, more secure deal is an incredible bit of news, really, and shows how great things are behind the scenes and how good it is for top players to be part of what we’re aiming to achieve here at Sunderland over the coming years.
Do not let the fact we signed Le Fée in the Championship fool you – he is a top-class footballer and, in my opinion, the best player we have in an incredibly talented squad. So, to get him to say, “Aye, I’m going nowhere and this is the place for me”, really is huge news and shouldn’t just be brushed over.
He’s got the ability to play for anyone. Genuinely. If one of Europe’s true elite came along, you wouldn’t be shocked, and I know for a fine fact he’d be able to cut it for one of the big boys.
So, that means we have to give ourselves some security for when the inevitable happens. Frankly, if Enzo carries on playing to the level that he is currently, there will no doubt be interest in him in January, and we have to be prepared for that.
More importantly, it strengthens the belief that playing for Régis Le Bris and playing for Sunderland has given Enzo the platform that his career needed. He’s already discovered in his career that the grass isn’t always greener, and it could well be that Sunderland are just the perfect club for him and, hopefully, he understands this.
Fabulous, unexpected news. I love Enzo Le Fée, and I can’t wait to see how much more he can improve, all whilst featuring for Sunderland in the Premier League and Europe.
Initial elation aside, my first thought was how head-spinning it is to have savvy owners and a high-performing football set-up running the club. It seems like the most sensible thing in the world to tie down your most effective performer but, as we know only too well, it’s not something we’re used to seeing at all.
Hard to think of a more deserving player from last season and the start of this. He’s just everything you want at your club – a magician who grafts like fuck. There’s also been a real theme to his interviews and comments this season so far that show he’s completely bought into the club.
I’ll be sitting my son down to tell him the news as soon as he’s home from school – that’s the level of magnitude we’re talking here. Fantastic.
Absolutely superb news, and not a moment too soon! In fact, if we could just dispense with the formalities and give the bloke a lifetime contract, that’d be great.
Not only is Enzo one of the most technically gifted footballers I’ve seen play in red and white, he’s a proper grafter and he – like all of us – would run through brick walls for this club. I honestly don’t think it’s possible to overstate how crucial he is to our current and (hopefully) ongoing success. If he didn’t have such a close relationship with Régis, I’d have expected him to be rocking up at Man City or Liverpool any day now!
I still sort of don’t really believe that he actually signed for us in the Championship. How on God’s earth did we manage that? And if that doesn’t show the lad’s commitment to us, I don’t know what possibly could.
2031 isn’t long enough. Enzo, Enzo, 10 more years!
I think it’s a great move by the club and Le Fée himself. He’s clearly invested into the project and wants to see what more he can achieve at Sunderland.
Enzo is a key player for us no matter what competition we are in, and he has been undroppable since he arrived in January ’25.
