Delta Political Forum Series to host program on climate change

Date:

The Delta Political Forum Series is hosting “On the Shores of Michigan: Repercussions of Climate Change on the Mitten State” at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, in room S105 on Delta’s main campus.

Remote viewing will be available in Room 123 at the Delta College Midland Center and in Room 101 at the Downtown Saginaw campus.

This deliberative-dialogue style event will address the impact of climate change in Michigan and the Midwest. It will focus on effects on tourism, agriculture and industry.

The panel will include Peter Sinclair, environmental and energy specialist/activist; Sara Beth Keough, Geography Department Professor and Chair at Saginaw Valley State University; and Steven Holty, Sustainability Team Leader at Hemlock Semiconductor and liaison to the governor’s Council on Climate Solutions. The forum will be moderated by Delta College Physics Professor Aurelian Balan and students in the Environmental Club.

“With wildfires in Canada creating poor air quality, once-in-a-lifetime hurricanes and record heat in parts of the country, the effects of climate change are all around us,” said Kris Nitz, Delta College biology professor and event organizer.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Mark Balawender, Delta College philosophy professor, at 989-686-9486.
