CREWS BATTLE MAJOR BLAZE AT COLONY MOTEL | News, Sports, Jobs

The Colony Motel in Ellicott.

Responders are battling a major fire in the town of Ellicott this morning.

Before 6 a.m., numerous departments were called to 620 Fairmount Ave. at the Colony Motel to a structure fire. The call was made stating they were working to get everyone out.

Departments from Bemus Point, Falconer, Kiantone, county Emergency Services, Ashville, Busti, Jamestown, Lakewood, Celoron were at the location as of 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Video from the scene showed major damage from one end of the structure to the other. Two ladder trucks were pouring water on the site. Firefighters were also going from room to room with hoses.

One person who lived there said he was awakened around 5:30 when the manager told him to get out. The individual saw huge flames on both ends once exiting the structure.

The Colony Motel in Ellicott is ablaze.

Many who were living at the location had been there for a year to a couple months. Those who spoke said they lost everything.

At this time, it’s not known how many individuals were living there.

By 7:45 a.m., it appeared firefighters had the blaze under control. As daylight became more evident, so did the overwhelming damage to the location.

Traffic on Fairmount Avenue was being rerouted.
