The City of Laredo Manager, Joseph Neeb, along with the Mayor and Council Members, recognized Mr. Jose Castillo, Assistant Director of Financial Services on Tuesday during the City Council meeting. Castillo was presented with a recognition plaque on the occasion of his retirement and for serving the City of Laredo for the last 39 years.

Castillo started his career with the City of Laredo Finance Department in 1984. He held various positions such as Staff, Senior, and Chief Accountant. In 1995 he was promoted to Assistant Finance Director. On a number of occasions, Mr. Castillo served as the Interim Finance Director as needed. His most recent term as Interim Finance Director was from January 2019 to July 2023.

“I congratulate Mr. Castillo for all his work and dedication and for everything he has done,” said Neeb, City. 

Castillo has dedicated his entire time to the Finance Department and is ready for the next chapter in his life. 

“Working with the City of Laredo Finance Department under several directors has been an honor. I want to thank the finance staff for their support; without their help, it would not have been possible. I also want to thank my wife and family for their support,” said Castillo.

Castillo’s official last day with the City of Laredo is September 15, 2023.
