Bomber girls fall to Seton Catholic in soccer playoffs | News, Sports, Jobs

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid girls soccer team was defeated 4-1 by the Seton Catholic Knights on Saturday in the Section VII, Class D quarterfinals game on the road.

Abby Pearl led the Knights with three goals and Nicole Lizarazo netted one to advance to the Class D semifinals. Seton Catholic will host Crown Point at 3 p.m., today.

The Blue Bombers got off to a quick start when Anisa Cecunjanin scored the first goal of the contest around 21 minutes, 37 seconds into the game. But Pearl responded with back-to-back goals a couple of minutes later.

Lizarazo pushed the Knights’ lead to 3-0 late in the first half, before Pearl closed out the scoring with a goal after intermission.

Seton Catholic outshot Lake Placid 16-7. Margaret Thatcher had a solid performance in net for the Blue Bombers with 12 saves. The Knights’ Lacee LaPoint had six stops.
