SugarFest

The West Baton Rouge Museum, 845 N. Jefferson Ave., Port Allen, will host its annual SugarFest on Sunday, an Exploration in Genealogy workshop titled “Fragile Grounds: Louisiana’s Endangered Cemeteries” on Saturday, Oct. 7, and a screening of “The Original King Bee” documentary on Thursday, Oct. 12. Sunday in the Park

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge’s Sunday in the Park series for Fall 2023 opens Sunday. Kendall Shaffer is in the lineup Sunday, Erica Falls on Oct. 8, Michael Foster Project on Oct. 15 and Peyton Falgoust & Rue De Funk on Oct. 22. All shows are from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Shaw Center for the Arts Plaza, 100 Lafayette St. Admission is free. For more information, visit artsbr.org.

LASM gala

Tickets are on sale for the Louisiana Art & Science Museum’s 38th annual gala, “Out of This World,” this year celebrating the Pennington Planetarium’s 20th anniversary, on Friday, Oct. 6, at the museum, 100 S. River Road. All funds raised benefit renovations to the museum’s hands-on galleries. Single tickets are $154.50 and $283.25 for couples. For tickets, visit lasm.org.   

Mr. C Live

Tickets are on sale for “Mr. C Live! Vol. 1 — Air is Everywhere” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, in the Manship Theatre in the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St. This show, recommended for students in the third through eighth grades, ‍features Mister C in an amazing day of learning in the lab as he explores all things air. Arts in Medicine

Baton Rouge General’s Arts in Medicine program’s new exhibit, “Re-Emergence,” is showing in its Café Gallery, 8585 Picardy Ave. For this year’s exhibit, 150 pieces were submitted by local artists, including 21 first-time submissions. One component of the program is to share local art with patients, staff and visitors. A new set of artists are showcased each year, and the art is available for purchase. ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’

Tickets are on sale for the Virginia Repertory Theatre’s production of “The Velveteen Rabbit,” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, in the Manship Theatre in the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St. This show, recommended for age 5 and older, tells the tale of Margery Williams’ classic children’s book. The Headhunters

‘Clue’ tickets

LSU A Cappella Choir

The LSU A Cappella Choir will perform “Earth Songs,” an uplifting and thought-provoking evening of choral music steeped in themes of the Earth and the environment, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, at University United Methodist Church 3350 Dalrymple Drive. At Southern University

The Southern University Visual Arts Gallery is showing an exhibit of work by artists Keith Douglas, Phyllis Lear and Ronald Kennedy through Tuesday, Oct. 31.
