Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship set for Hawaii debut

Date:

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Combat sports are back in the islands this weekend.

The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is hosting its first event at the Blaisdell arena this Saturday.

On Thursday, fighters from the three main event cards met in Honolulu ahead of their showdowns.

Each bout features local grown talent with Kealii Kanekoa, Toby Misech and Maki Pitolo headlining the evening.

Longtime Hawaii MMA promoter TJay Thompson says the islands are the right fit for bare knuckle fighting.

“Our fighters are made for this and I promised BKFC that we’re going to bring the action and bring the best fighters and we’re going to prove it to them Saturday night,” Thompson said. “I have no doubt, I’m not going to need to give these guys a big speech.”

The trio of local fighters are also using their fight purse to help in flood recovery efforts across the state.

“What we’re doing is going to bring a lot of proceeds to be able to help those that are in need,” Maki Pitolo said. “We are definitely looking forward to seeing the progression in bringing back Hawaii to its natural beauty again.”

tickets are still available, additional info can be found at the link below.
