Arab countries sweep top charts at 2023 World Travel Awards

Towards the end of each year, the celebratory event of the World Travel Awards, which are considered the “Oscars of the tourism world”, is held. 

During the ceremony held in Dubai, the winners in the various categories of the competition for 2023 were revealed, including the best airline in the world, the best hotel, the most desirable destination and more.

At the ceremony, the neighboring Arab countries in the Persian Gulf won a slew of awards, including Qatar with several prizes. Among other things, Qatar Airways won the title of the best airline in the world, as well as the best business class. 

In addition, the Qataris picked up the world’s leading tourism campaign award, and the capital Doha as the top business travel destination for 2023.

UAE embraced for luxury

Next to Doha, our friend the United Arab Emirates presented itself with a host of awards, including the airlines Etihad Airways, which won the best tourist class, Emirates with the best first class, and Dubai International Airport which won the award for the best port and the leading duty-free.

If that’s not enough, the world’s leading resort award goes to Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai.

In addition, the leading destination in the world was occupied by the Maldives which only recently proposed a bill in parliament against the entry of Israelis into the country following the war in Gaza.

The most recommended adventure destination was the Azores belonging to Portugal, and the most romantic destination for 2023 is the Seychelles.
