In more ways than one, the new show at the Solano Town Center Art Gallery is drawing a blank.

Continuing to Sept. 23, “Blank” is the show’s title, and Fairfield-Suisun City Visual Arts Association members are being asked to “create art depicting blank, nothing, nada, or something totally amazing, who knows what they will create for the show?” Dennis Ariza, the association president, said in a press statement.

A reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the mall gallery, where Fairfield poet laureate Suzanne Bruce and a group of poets will create poems about their favorite pieces in the show.

During the reception, to which the public is invited, poets will recite their poems in front of the artwork.

At the reception, there will be appetizers, beverages, and wine from an exhibit sponsor, BackRoad Vines Winery, including Pazzo Artista (“Crazy Artist” in Italian), a special blend of red wines specially created for this year’s 25th Annual Art on the Vine event, added Ariza.

The spotlight artist is Cherol Ockrassa, who will have a collection of acrylic paintings and mixed media artwork on display.

“Cherol loves to work with her hands and has created sculpture and ceramic pieces of art,” noted Ariza.

Ockrassa grew up creating art and in 2010 decided it was time to show it publicly. Though not an art major, she has taken art classes to continue improving her style and knowledge. She has been a member of art groups from other communities and joined the FSVAA in 2018.

A FSVAA board member and director of docents, Ockrassa is a regular participant at shows at the two other association galleries, the Village 360 Gallery and the Salon Collective GV Art Gallery, both off Suisun Valley Road in Fairfield.

The Solano Town Center Gallery is at 1508-B Travis Blvd., Fairfield in the Solano Town Center, on the second floor, next to the AT&T Store outside of Macy’s.
