PARIS, IDF —

As New Orleans Saints fans prepare to travel to Paris for the team’s upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, experts are advising travelers to anticipate airport delays and stay vigilant due to ongoing protests in France.

Laura Buisson, a travel expert with LB Luxury Travels, explained that a new EU biometric system at Charles de Gaulle Airport could cause delays.

“Right now there’s a new EU biometric system that’s been put into place, so when you land at the airport in Charles de Gaulle, I would anticipate a bit of a wait because they’re still working out the kinks of that system. You will expect to go through biometric scanning, and it involves fingerprinting,” Buisson said.

In addition to potential delays, travelers should be aware of protests in France, where hundreds of thousands of people are demonstrating against the country’s education system. According to the Associated Press, some of these protests have turned violent.

Buisson recommended staying informed through official resources.

“Follow the State Department website, and they really will keep you informed and give you all the information that you need to feel comfortable during your travel,” Buisson said.

The State Department’s travel advisory map currently lists France as a Level 2 country, meaning travelers should exercise increased caution, particularly in public spaces.

Buisson also advised taking steps to stay safe while in Paris.

“Avoid large crowds or any organized demonstrations and just keep your wits about you. Be aware of your surroundings, and you know, leave any precious valuables at home,” Buisson said.

Despite these challenges, Buisson encouraged travelers to enjoy their time in Paris and take in the city’s unique charm.

“And go at a little bit of a slower pace. That’s how you really savor the sites. You know, quintessential Paris is going to a cafe for a croissant or a glass of wine and really sitting and soaking in your surroundings,” Buisson said.

Travelers can visit the State Department’s website to sign up for travel alerts and stay updated on any increased risks.

The Saints game in Paris will air live next Sunday morning on WDSU.
