When Actress and writer Fran Drescher attended the New York City Ballet 2026 Spring Gala, she brought her “gay ex-husband,” writer Peter Marc Jacobson, along as her plus-one. While at the May 7 event, Drescher subtly gave People a glimpse into her recent trip to Europe with Jacobson.
Speaking of what it was like to travel with him, Drescher candidly told the outlet, “He’s my gay ex-husband. He’s my best friend, and he’s always around. But we try and make sure that he’s not too much of a c***block.”
Fran Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobson continue to share a close bond almost three decades after their divorce. MEGA
She was also asked whether Jacobson’s presence does indeed prevent men from approaching her when they travel, to which she replied, “That might have been, but for the most part, everybody knows who he is.”
Drescher, who co-created The Nanny and Happily Divorced with Jacobson and remained married to him for 21 years, seemingly teased a new project the duo might be working on in Europe in a recent Instagram post.
“Yes I’m in Berlin shooting! More to come on that. My first time here. All my friends who have spent time in Berlin said we will love it and we do! Great restaurants, museums, shopping, city park and hotels,” she wrote.
Drescher has called out Jacobson before. Speaking to People in January, she said, “I can have friends with benefits. That’s easy. But because I have Peter, I think he’s a bit of a c***block. I take him to everything, and I don’t really care.”
“I have a gay ex-husband — live with it! But I’ve been with him since I was 15. Who can compete with that,” she added, suggesting how close she is with Jacobson, whom she married at the age of 21.
Fran Drescher still considers Peter Marc Jacobson to be her soulmate. MEGA
Jacobson and Drescher were married from 1978 through 1999. Jacobson came out around the time the two divorced. It reportedly took him about a couple of years to rebuild his friendship with Drescher. The starlet was married to Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai from 2014 to 2016.
Still, Drescher believes that Jacobson understands her the most.
“We are soulmates… Soulmates really can’t ever [split]… We just had to figure out how to be happily divorced, and we so are… We feel very blessed that we cherish each other the way we do,” she shared.
