Governor Kathy Hochul is touting a proposal to ease the construction of critical projects in New York State.
The “Let Them Build” agenda entails reforms to the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). Hochul called the 1975 legislation “duplicative” last week, saying that projects are already subject to a separate set of state and local regulatory requirements.
Hochul further argued that working families are ultimately paying the price.
“In the great state of New York, it takes 56% longer to build a project here than in other states,” Hochul said. “That’s wasted months.”
