Jackson Henkels, a senior on the Mankato East boys track and field team, is in the midst of another big season.
Last month he took seventh in the 800-meter run in the Hamline elite meet with a school-record time of 1:55.39. Last week, he won the 800 at the Big Nine Conference meet at 1:57.25.
As a junior last season, Henkels was on the Cougars 4×800 relay that won the Class AA title, while also taking third at state in the open 800. He also won the 800 at the Section 2AA meet and the Big Nine meet in 2024.
Henkels will continue his track and field career at Minnesota State next year.
