A couple of months ago HMTC was approached for a location for a music event. We were told the music would be Industrial Gothic. We thought it was a cool idea to have a music event in the Lil’ Brick Theater. The middle portion of the building has the stage and the brick walls that would give that kind of music an awesome effect. We agreed and discovered that the event is called The Vampire Ball!
I Googled and found out that a Vampire Ball is described as a “Venetian Masquerade meets a Vampire Court, with the energy of a rock concert and the elegance of Burlesque Cabaret.”
Apparently, these events began in NYC in 1996 with the “Vampyre Ball of New York.” Okay, it’s been around awhile. Our staff learned something new.
So, what is the attire? I found that in some places gowns and tuxedos are the traditional choices for such an event. For women, a stunning gown or dress in a deep red or black is often chosen. Elegant detailing like lace, beading, or embroidery is desired.
It’s advertised as an all-ages goth industrial darkwave dance night with DJs Big Hombre and Abraxas Deity. It also features a live performance by Fear Artifice and Tragic Visions. It’s also intended to be a Hanford Renaissance Fair after-party with local artists displaying art. The doors open at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7.
