Flying Dutchmen host flat track races | News, Sports, Jobs

Date:

NEW ULM — The Flying Dutchmen Cycle Club played host to a series of flat track races on Saturday, with bikers of all ages competed against each other on a dirt track a few miles east of New Ulm.

Racers came from all over Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Iowa to race in one or more of 30 different race categories, with ages ranging from 5 to 75.

The track saw heavy rainfall from the night before, and the races were delayed an hour as the track was repaired, but the competitors were undeterred as they raced in in-ideal conditions.

The races started with a series of heats that determined placement in the main events, which followed once the heats were completed.

Racing continues on Sunday.
