Big-rig rolls into gully in Sunol | News

Date:

A big-rig ended up on its side in Sunol on Wednesday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol reported the 18-wheel, double tanker was stuck in a gully at Felter and Calaveras roads after its driver tried to navigate a sharp turn shortly after noon.

Alameda County fire officials initially reported that there may have been a leak from the big-rig but they later announced that the county hazardous materials team determined there is no leak of any fluid from the trailer unit and no dangerous fluid leaks from the tractor portion either. However, the team is taking a closer look to make sure.

No major injuries were reported and fire personnel said the big-rig driver was declining transport to a hospital.

Cheryl Hurd, the public affairs manager for the Alameda County Fire Department, said the big-rig is in an area that’s hard to access for fire apparatus. She also said communication in the area is “spotty.”
