#5 Lady Buffs Travel to Cameron Aggies

CANYON, TX- The No. 5 nationally ranked Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M (22-2, 11-1 LSC) will travel out of state to take on the Cameron University Aggies (5-21, 2-10 LSC) in Lawton, OK on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Aggie Gym.

LIVE COVERAGE

A paid-for live stream and free stats will be provided by the Cameron Athletic Communications department. All LSC matches will be aired on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network. 

Fans can purchase a daily pass for $15, a monthly game pass for $30 or a yearly pass for $140. Any pass purchased will give fans the opportunity to watch any LSC game across any sport including volleyball matches. Fans can purchase their pass at lonestarconferencenetwork.com.

IN THE POLLS

The #5 Lady Buffs are the only LSC program represented in the national standings and have been in the top five in the nation for the past nine weeks. Angelo State has consistently been receiving votes while three RMAC teams are ranked with MSU Denver (8th), Colorado Mesa (11th) and Regis (12th). Texas A&M Kingsville is receiving votes in the AVCA poll for the first time this season. 

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION

CAMERON (Nov. 1 | 5:30 PM) 

The Aggies are led by first year head coach Nathan Martell. The Aggies have already improved their win column to two compared to last years outcome of not winning a match in the LSC. Their two wins this season come from a Midwestern sweep as their first home win of the season and from a 3-1 decision against Oklahoma Christian. 

Cameron ranks second in the LSC in total attacks with 3,225, which is 27th nationally. Jacee Stelter is the team leader with 657 (ninth in the LSC) at a pace of 7.92 per set (15th in the LSC).

Meagan Jimenez is second in the LSC with 35 service aces and in digs with 423. On average per set, she ranks fourth in the LSC in digs per set (5.04) and fifth in aces per set (0.42).

LAST TIME OUT

The Lady Buffs swept both Lubbock Christian at home and Eastern New Mexico in Portales, N.M. The Lady Buffs held their opponents to hitting under .200 as a team while the Lady Buffs hit above .300 as a team. 

Junior Brynne Wright led the Lady Buffs in kills against both the Chaps and the Greyhounds. Torrey Miller and Bryli Contreras each led in digs with each match with the front defense handled by middle blockers Carly Evetts and Taytum Stow. Ainsley Malis led in assists for both matches. 

AROUND THE LONE STAR

The Lady Buffs are sitting in first place in the Lone Star Conference with only one dropped match in the regular season. Angelo State sits tied for second with a 10-2 record after dropping straight sets from Texas A&M Kingsville with Dallas Baptist in the same situation with a dropped match from the Javelinas and the Texas A&M International Dustdevils. 

University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and Texas A&M Kingsville sit tied for fourth with a 9-2 record each. Rounding out the top eight in the standings are Texas Woman’s, UT Tyler and UT Permian Basin.
