A report from the International Data Corporation (IDC) in 2018 says that United States generated around 6.9 ZB (1ZB is approximately equal to a trillion GB) of Datasphere, meanwhile China generated around 7.6 ZB of Datasphere on the same year
In 2025, the United States is expected to produce 30.6 ZB of Datasphere whereby China is expected to produce around 48. 6 ZB. The projection is that the amount of digital data generated (what IDC calls as Datasphere) will grow from 33 ZB in 2018 to 175 ZB by 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of 61%.

The storage industry will carry 42 ZB of storage data in the next seven years, the forecast of data and storage at 2025 are as listed below:
- By 2025, the IoT devices will generate over 90 ZB of data
- By 2025, 49% of the world’s stored data will reside in public cloud environments.
- Nearly 30% of the Global Datasphere will be real-time by 2025
