Yilei Xu, a female entrepreneur who has successfully set up her apparel brand, is all set to collaborate with NYC based designers.
Direct sales fashion startup led by Ms. Xu announced an exciting program to promote small and emerging fashion designers. The company is now aiming at setting its retail footprints in New York and other American metros. To achieve that, the company has started a collaboration program for NYC based designers, especially female designers with an entrepreneurial bent of mind.
“There is an enormous hurdle confronting female entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, women get considerably less venture capital funding to grow or startup businesses than men. According to a 2014 study by Babson College, 85 percent of all venture capital–funded businesses have no women on the executive team”, said Ms. Xu during a recent press conference.
“You can waste your time drawing lines, or you can live your life”, she stated while asked about the challenges unique to her women-led apparel brand.
Yilei Xu’s company now looks for talented and aspiring fashion and fitness accessories designers and is in the process of building a global team of designers. In 2017, Peach tested a program to buy, sell and promote these up and coming fashion accessories and apparels through their ecommerce store.
The direct sales model allows stylists to tell the designers’ stories and sell the accessories directly to their clients, creating a more engaging experience than the more passive retail brick and mortar or e-commerce. Customers enjoy the personal buying experience of direct sales and love discovering hot fashion and fitness accessory brands that aren’t yet household names. The designers get exposed directly to a large, new audience.
The company is now opening up the process for designers in and around New York to apply directly to be a featured designer. They can make their case for this tremendous free exposure and significant wholesale orders, just what these aspiring designers need to grow.
“A big part of our corporate mission,” said she, “is to support women’s entrepreneurship and designing aspirations. The program has been a smash success in China as many of the designers have managed to earn big through this program. Now we are excited to allow the NYC designers the ability to easily apply directly for this huge opportunity,” she said.
Since January 2017, the company has been supporting designers around the world to market their products. She said this about the program, “As designers, we constantly struggle with shattering the glass ceiling and our program has been a great stepping stone in the endeavor”, she added.
